BU Cyber Security Students reach 3rd in the finals of the international Aviation ISAC Student Cyber Challenge

Bournemouth University (BU) Cyber Security students, Team PierToPeer, recently participated in the Aviation ISAC Student Cyber Challenge, held in Zurich, Switzerland, on October 15, 2025.

The summit provided expert perspectives, actionable strategies, global networking and collaboration, in addition to the cybersecurity challenge. Participants faced a range of challenges to defend against a simulated cyber-attack on an airport and its primary operator, applying their technical and problem-solving skills. This included triage of hacked kiosks, restoring baggage handling systems, securing avionics networks and protocols, and other tasks.

Congratulations to BU Cyber Security students Atanas Burmov, James McCarthy, and Levi Rockwell-Jones in Team PierToPeer for their incredible achievement, finishing 3rd in Europe. The team are looking forward to applying their skills to further challenges in the future.
